One of my recent events was and Indian wedding at the Andaz San Diego.  The bride’s style was polished contemporary meets Indian tradition. Check out my original inspiration board (from before the wedding) plus a new board with my bride’s real wedding photos.

Beautiful bride, Priya, had a gorgeous wedding gown and 2 different Indian saris.  We changed her makeup to coordinate with each of her dresses – what a fun event!  Indian weddings are so colorful and are truly amazing.  I’m still daydreaming about how I can attend another Indian event so I can wear a sari and do my makeup like Priya’s. Don’t tell anyone but she said I can borrow her saris any time I want ;)

Inspiration Board:  Indian Bridal Makeup

Palette:  Gold & Purple

Mood:  Contemporary with traditional Indian influence. Polished & Elegant. Downtown.

 

This “mood board” is one that I put together for an Indian wedding this weekend at the Andaz Hotel in downtown San Diego.  I love pulling images that inspire me and putting them into a collage, it’s a great way to tie in the bride’s wedding colors and theme with her makeup.

 

When the bride told me that she wanted to wear 3 separate makeup looks I jumped at the chance. After meeting with the bride and seeing her dresses, we came up with a unique look to coordinate with each dress.  For this contemporary Indian wedding, the bride will be wearing a white wedding dress (American designer) for the ceremony and a traditional Indian saree in gold for the reception.  At the rehearsal dinner, she will be wearing a deep purple saree with sparkling silver accents.  I’m looking forward to creating these three looks…

While in Italy this summer I found a new favorite makeup line called KIKO Makeup.  I had heard of this Italian makeup line before but it is not sold in the United States so I had never tried any of their products ~ that is before I had my first intro to KIKO Makeup in Florence.  KIKO Makeup is made in Milan and sold in Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany and the UK.  KIKO seems to be the trend for the young people in Italy, almost similar to the popularity of M.A.C. Cosmetics in the U.S. although M.A.C. is owned by Este Lauder and is distributed in more countries. The Italians definitely love their KIKO Makeup stores.  I must have walked by a KIKO Makeup store in every major city in Italy.  When I finally had the chance to visit this big, beautiful makeup playground they were closing for the night, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me from playing with all those pretty colors.  Here is hat I ended up with:

 

KIKO Liquid Colour Eyeshadow {in mocha, coral, indigo, aqua blue, violet and green} ~ Giving this a 5 out 5 stars. Lots of pigment. Love it <3

KIKO Lip Base Primer ~ Also a great product I would buy again. Preps the lips for lighter colored lipstick perfectly. Love.

 

LOVE these new additions to my makeup kit!

 

 

I’m so excited to have some Italian products in my makeup kit!  Now just crossing my fingers that KIKO will be available in the U.S. soon!
